Rabbi Fisher was born on May 27, 1946, in Budapest, Hungary, to survivors of the Holocaust. He immigrated to the United States in 1949. He has devoted his academic and professional career to the Jewish community, and he has been involved with the Messianic Jewish movement since 1973. He obtained his B.S. in Bible at Philadelphia College of Bible, 1970; M.S. In Communications at Temple University, 1970; M.A. in New Testament, Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, 1972; B.J.S. in Jewish Thought, Spertus College of Judaica, 1978; Ph.D in Education/Religion, University of South Florida, 1987. He obtained his Th.D in Judaic Studies, California Graduate School of Theology, 1989. He is married to Patrice E. Pavka and they have two children.

Josie is originally from Iloilo, Philippines, where she obtained her B.S.N. degree from Central Philippine University. She has taught and practiced nursing in both the U.S. and Philippines. While in the Philippines she also served as a staff worker with Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship (IVCF). Kerry grew up in Ashland, OR, but moved to the Seattle area with his family during his senior year of high school. After working in a variety of endeavors including music, youth work, and missions, he completed a B.S. in Biblical Studies (minoring in Intercultural Studies) at Multnomah Bible College, followed by an M.A. in Exegetical Theology from Western Seminary. Having been involved as ISI volunteers, both joined ISI in October 2002 with the title of Campus Staff. In November 2004 Kerry became ISI’s Portland City Director
